Hi Carole! It sounds like you DO a lot! The sewing machine will be ready when you’re ready. In the meantime, it sounds like your creative life is full of wonderful projects with yard, paint, pens, stories and inspiration!

Thanks so much, Marlene. I am always delighted to have an opportunity to share my work and ideas about creating art with fabric and stitch — so it’s wonderful to be featured on TextileArtist.org. Thanks for following along! Cheers!

Thank you so much, Sandra! It really is so interesting how symbols can tell stories and be interpreted by different people and at different times in so many different ways.

The layers of surface marks – tiny and large, the hand stitching details, it all comes together so beautifully. Thank you for sharing her story and her work.

I particularly like Deborah’s work, with her use of symbols, and the way she utilized pieces of fabric, the use of hand sewing and embroidery. So in saying this one may ask well what do you do and I would have to reply – well not much yet and why not, well I cannot give you a reason, but I do knit, embroider, paint and love mixed media, and write stories – lots of them.. The sewing machine is sitting next to me but I cannot touch it yet. I am inspired, and have been of late to create visual pages of writings I do using the above mediums, and have one piece that I like in this medium. Thank you, I found the article inspiring.

Other symbols common to my work are birds, cats, stars, windows and energy swirls. Pattern is essential.

I am very inspired by this post. While I primarily work in collage, watercolor or acrylic paint, I also do some fabric work and free form tapestry.
