Sometimes, in the felting world, everything looks like a copy of this teacher or that, and there is a redundancy in form, color and technique that means nothing stands out. These works stand on their own and seem more original. I will be watching this artist’s explorations and hope to see her push the boundaries even more. Thanks so much for featuring this work!

I am fascinated by what felters are creating these days. All of the techniques offer so much potential and beautiful results! But, the sculptural work is especially interesting… Shana has done a lot of experimenting with using electricity in her sculptures, adding conductive wires and light bulbs to the work, making them functional as lamps or just adding interactive elements. She shows one in this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q0IFvGslAQs

Watching tutorials and videos helps understand the process and I always end up tired… It takes so much patience and dedication to achieve these results and I admire them greatly! One of my favorite felt artists is Judit Pocs who produced a beautiful documentary on feltmaking. It was available on Culture Unplugged, but has since been taken down. I believe that it can be purchased through their site: http://mediawavearchivum.hu/index.php?nyelv=eng&modul=filmek&kod=1479 It is just wonderful!

Thanks to all of you for sharing your talents and experience! Happy New Year!
