25 amazing WordPress themes for artists
Almost 50% of art and artist websites on the internet are built on WordPress, an online, open-source website creation tool. WordPress is probably the easiest and most powerful blogging and website content management system available today.
Most websites built on the WordPress platform (including this very site TextileArtist.org) use premium WordPress themes as their templates; themes give a website its look, style, layout and functionality.
Why WordPress for artists?
WordPress is a user-friendly, non-scary platform for designers and technophobes alike. It is used to create beautiful sites to showcase businesses and personal brands or as a blogging platform.
WordPress is particularly great for artists, most of whom would rather be in their studio than at a computer screen; it makes the whole process of creating an online portfolio fast and simple.
The other big advantage of using WordPress is that you won’t be paying huge sums of money to a designer. In fact, the only investments are your domain name, hosting and purchasing a WordPress theme, none of which are expensive.
The best artist website templates
Over the years, we’ve helped many artists with the design of their websites, including Daren Redman and Elisabeth Rutt, and recently we’ve been looking into themes to use in an update for our own site. In that process, we’ve come across several brilliant templates; each of the themes we’ve chosen to feature utilise a clean, crisp layout perfect for an artist website.
They also boast simple functionality, easy installation and all of them come with a built-in blog if you require it (it’s easily removed if not). I hope they offer some inspiration and perhaps encourage you to begin creating your own online portfolio site to showcase your artwork today!

These look great! I’m actually setting up a site for one of our TAFA members, so I hope that she will like one of these. 🙂
These are amazing options and…SO MANY! They couldn’t come at a better time as I am presently searching for a website format for the first time.
Wow that was strange. I just wrote an really long comment but after I clicked submit
my comment didn’t appear. Grrrr… well I’m not
writing all that over again. Anyway, just wanted to say superb blog!
Having a wordpress site already with many images on it, how easy is it to transfer all the images and information into a new template?
Hi Grith. It should be very easy. All you need to do is go to Appearance>Themes, upload and activate your new theme. All the images should remain on the site as they were.
Thanks Joe 🙂 I’ll maybe give it a go then to revamp my site…
Really nice! 🙂
Thanks for this post! I often buy from ThemeForest but they don’t have a decent search feature, so summaries like yours are helpful. I’ll be using one of the themes I found in your list to showcase my art. Looking forward to exploring the rest of your site.
Do you know which of these themes are mobile device friendly?
Really helpful article thank you. I’ve recently moved over to Peak one of the themes you recommend. It was really straightforward to change and my site looks far better now. I’m seeing a definite increase in traffic since I swopped it over. I really love the fact you can have a galley as the home page. Thanks so much for the top tip.

nice theme collection
The collection of themes is superb. I will definitely use one of the theme from this unique collection.
I find that many artist are not comfortable having their images cropped, even for thumb nails. It would be great to see themes produced with this in mind.
I agree with you. Most of these themes favor horizontal images when my own are mostly vertical. Have you found a suitable theme?
great collections, thanks for the themes 😀
I am in the process of learning WordPress and creating a new, more responsive website.
Most WP themes including those suggested above favor horizontal images. The majority of my images are vertical. I am looking for a simple theme that favors vertical images and allows ample text and blogging. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Awesome collection of WordPress themes you have shared with us. All themes are really useful and will an enthralling look to related websites. Templatetoaster can also design such kind of themes in a short time for multiple CMSs.
Hey guys.
Looking over your themes. Really nice!!!
But I found one problem (might be more, not sure): the “Crush” live demo link doesn’t work. Thought you might like to look into that.

your WP theme List-Out is Wonderful.
It’s Helped me a lot.
Thanks for sharing with us.
Unfortunately, the Other theme is no longer available for downloading. I am really upset to discover this cause the way it presented images in a large-scale format and without spaces between them w\as really chic. I guess, the Marble theme from the list could do a trick as well and I also did some research and found a similar one called Artwork, but I would really appreciate if you could recommend me some more themes like that
Hi,
I have also found an awesome category of Art Gallery HTML website template site if you are interested to go through the link and download the Art Gallery website template as free: https://www.templateonweb.com/website-templates/arts-gallery
